Services Offered
Individual Therapy for Children ages 3-12
Unlike adults, children do not always have the capacity to talk through and solve their issues, so I use play therapy as the primary mechanism for change. Through play children are better able to share their thoughts, worries, troubles and wishes. They learn how to express and manage their emotions, practice ways to solve issues in real life and come to terms with difficult experiences. When appropriate, I also use cognitive behavioral techniques to help children better understand their thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
Parent/Guardian Consultation and Support
I believe that therapy for children works best when parents are active participants. We will have regular discussions about your child's progress and your concerns. In addition to these meetings, I am available to provide support for behavioral issues or general concerns you may have. Together we can develop specific strategies that make sense for your family and can be used at home.
School/Day Care Consultation
I am available to provide information and suggestions regarding your child's needs to teachers, therapists, special education teams, or other caregivers in order to ensure that your child is receiving the support he/she needs to be successful in a school or day care environment.
