About Claire
Claire is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in the treatment of children. She developed an interest in personality development and attachment as an undergraduate student at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She solidified her knowledge and clinical skills in these areas through completing the dual degree program at Erikson Institute and Loyola University in Chicago and obtaining a master’s in child development and social work. After completing this program, Claire spent four years as a school social worker on the North Shore, supporting children with special needs and their families. She currently works as a therapist at the Playful Healing Center in Des Plaines.
Claire is a registered play therapist and has extensive experience working with children to facilitate the development of positive coping skills, social skills and emotional regulation. She also has experience working with parents and teachers on managing problem behaviors through appropriate support and structure. She has offered counseling and other support services to children in the school system, coordinated services for families, facilitated parent education groups and provided support to parents and siblings of children with special needs.
